We used to frequent Marco's when w lived in Texas. So, when we learned that Marco's was coming to Hickory - and less than a mile away - we were ecstatic.
There crust is perfectly buttery and crispy. If you want a dash of garlic or parmesan, add it when you're building your pizza and you wont be disappointed. All of the ingredients are flavorful and abundant. Simply look at my pictures... they'll tell you half the story. I LOVE that Marco's puts huge chunks of sausage and lots of pepperoni (at all layers of the build). It's not ridiculously greasy but just enough to know you're eating GOOD pizza. For a chain pizza joint - it's hard to beat.
Add the fact the staff is awesome, it just keeps the 5 star rating. And, they verify your order...customer service focused.
First time and i can say the pizza was great. Not greasy at all, like many other places. Would definitely come back again.
The pizza was absolutely excellent!!!! Had a very nice rich, Italian-like taste to it. One of the very best pizzas I have had in a long time. In fact, Marco' s is our new favorite pizza place!! Can't wait to try all your other menu items!!!
If you've had pizza from Amalfi's in Conover, then you know what to expect here. Very similar.
I ordered a large deluxe. The sauce was good, but a little less than other places put on their pizzas. Makes the toppings stand out more.
Toppings were good, chunky and plentiful. Interesting grouping, though -- the vegetable toppings were spread around the center, followed by the meat toppings closer to the edge. Didn't affect the taste or enjoyment in any way. Just hadn't seen that before.
Nothing memorable about the cheese or crust. I think they should brush a butter-garlic spread on the dough before baking. I buttered the edge of the crust and sprinkled Italian seasoning on the pizza at home.
I think I liked it more as leftovers the next day than when it was fresh! Seemed to give everything time to set and blend better.
A lot of places have come and gone from this location, and better-known pizza competition is within walking distance. I hope Marco's succeeds where others failed! I'll be back, but I'll request extra sauce and buy crust dip next time.
The best thing they have going for then is their variety of toppings. Green olives? Anchovies? Haven't seen those since the 90's. As far as the food itself, it's pretty good. The best in town? No. Maybe the 3rd best? Depends on the styles you like. But, most importantly the cold pizza morning test....not to great. After reheating it was fine but still not the best wake up snack. As far as prices go, WHOA! Be sure to sign up online and add that 50% one time coupon otherwise you'll spend $50 on Large 3 pizzas and Cheese sticks.
