The Olde Tavern

Ok, you are probably doing the same thing we were, searching for a restaurant in Hickory that has good food and a nice environment. Well, the environment in the Olde Tavern is "sports bar" - for sure, BUT our jaws dropped at how good the food was. We would have clearly paid double the price for the food we ate. The special was Salmon stuffed with Crab and I had the potato cakes with it. My wife had a Strawberry and Spinach salad and she added the Blackened Whitefish to it. The taste of everything on the table was so good, that words would not do it justice. Plus our waitress was incredibly kind and funny. We left the place knowing that we would not have another meal that good, for that price, for a long time to come.

Food was great. Loved the atmosphere. My husband and I shared a plate. Just enough to leave us both satisfied.

Husband ordered a Philly cheese steak, and the meat was tough and so full of gristle he couldn't eat it. Didn't like having to do it, but sent it back. Waitress was very understanding and friendly about it and the replacement they sent out was perfect. So we're okay. Otherwise great visit and really good food.

Had a great time tonight! The service provided by Brandon was exemplary! The food was the best we’ve had in a while and we will definitely make this a “go to” place! Thanks for a great evening!

I love this place. It's my go to place these days. Great service. Good choices. Decent prices. Very much a local hang out vibe too...You always see someone you know.
