Durty Thumbs Jamaican Cuisine

This place seems very underrated. They weren't really busy when my friend and I went at dinner time, but the experience was fantastic. TLDR: the food, service, and atmosphere are phenomenal.

Note: I have to put that we spent $20-30 per, *but* we only spent that much because we kept ordering extra things to try. If it wasn't for that, it'd be closer to the $10-20 range.

The food was delicious.
As an appetizer, we ordered the cocobread, and it was very light and fluffy and warm. Think Hawaiian roll, but *better*.
For my entree, I ordered 3 jerk chicken tacos with fried plantains (because they have a deal for 3 tacos) and it was so good I ordered 3 more! The chicken was so tender and it was seasoned and cooked just right. The jerk sauce and cole slaw was also great. 10/10.
We also got a slice of the pineapple rum cake and it was so light, fluffy, and moist, the fork just went right through it. It was absolutely delicious.

Aside from the food, the staff were very friendly, and the cook even came out and talked with the patrons. They seem like wonderful people. Service and interactions were a 12/10, it really made the whole experience that much better.

We had the oxtail with rice and fried plantain along with a shepherd pie and a beef patty! Everything was tasty and delicious! Just perfect portions for two of us. Tried the durty punch, and it was good! Could use more rum 😏 staff were amazing and responsive!

Friendly staff and good food! The portions are large enough for leftovers! The jerk chicken is flavorful and not really that spicy. The curry chicken was also rather good! The pulled pork was tender and full of flavor. You must try the plantains and the Jamaican soda if you go!
I'm glad that Hickory has a place like this now!
Needless to say we will definitely be coming back!

Food was excellent, service was great. The owners are very personable and welcoming. My favorite dish so far is definitely the jerk chicken nachos. Everything was AWESOME!! My family ate it ALL up. My niece and nephew tore up the fried grouper, my brother reeked havoc on the ox tails, and I smashed the veggies. My sister devoured the rasta pasta with jerk chicken. Loved the plantains. All around good food!! Whew.... you've been waiting for this!! Go grab you some.

Food was defiantly worth it! You can really taste the smoke on the chicken and pork. Very authentic. Only downside would be the appearance. You can tell a lot of the stuff was used from the previous restaurant but not cleaned, Max’s. Defiantly needs some work on keeping it cleaner with some TLC. Also no kids menu. We will be back for certain I just hope this helps. I can see this being the hickory buzz if the few hiccups are fixed !
