Awful Arthur's Oyster Bar

Love this place!!! It's our most romantic stop on vacation every year. Great staff. Nice ocean view from the bar. My favorite is to get a steamer platter. my husband loves blackened tuna pastas or a fried platters. Always get some raw oysters. Fabulous hush puppies!!!

Sunday night, 730p.

The hostess at the door was rude.

Brief wait upstairs at bar. Seated at large table downstairs. 1/2# of spiced shrimp OUTSTANDING, but a little too spicy for hubby. Bad Barracuda's entree was also Excellent. Shrimp were slightly tough, maybe from heat lamp. Crab was delicious and no effort of picking. ☺️

Wine $6, can beer $4. Overall good value.
Out the door under $75 including 3 drinks and tips for server and bar. Our server Holly was great, just the right amount of attention, no pressure to hurry. ????

Awful Arthur's delivers the basics of seafood consistently well and with a unique, nostalgic vibe. Service is friendly, prices are reasonable. Excellent hush puppies and conch fritters, great steamed and raw shellfish, a changing array of local catches prepared simply but competently. A respectable beer list. You can rely on Awful Arthur's to deliver the throwback beach vibe you crave in the Outer Banks. Nice view from the upstairs raw bar as well. That's why we come back year after year.

I'm a Vegetarian and their veggie burger was amazing. Wife had the platter with oysters and softshell. She said nothing needed any sauce as it was good on its own. I have to mention the bar stools were too comfortable. I could had sat there until closing. So don't be shy to pull up to the bar if the tables are full. Good place to just come to chill and have a great bite of fresh seafood and other great food.

I’d like to give 3.5 stars if possible so I went high because.. first, we did take out and they missed one of our entrees which is understandable when you’re ordering 7 of them over the phone but the manager did discount when we went back so thumbs up for that. Second, the food was decent. Shrimp were good but the snow crab was not so great. Hush puppies were definitely good. Overall, I wouldn’t wait 1 hour for a seat for this place but if you’re looking for something new it’ll do the trick.
