What a wonderful place to eat the place was clean and the atmosphere was inviting. I met the owner Ms. Cheryl what a mighty women of God. We drove up from Atlanta and anybody that has been to Atlanta we have a lot of soul food restaurants in Atlanta but baby this is the best 10 star rating and Ms. Cheryl has an event center next door so she can also cater your event also. When ever you are in Gastonia N.C please go visit she also employs the youth in the community.
We stumbled on this place and are happier for it. The owner chatted with us, two locals and 3 out-of-towners, and we tried a little of a lot. For me, the highlights were the tender/crunch balanced fried chicken, the liver mush, shrimp and flavorful grits, and surprisingly light fried okra. I'm definitely looking forward to return and try the bang bang shrimp and soul food tacos as well as the ribs accompanied by live music.
The staff here was so kind, the service was great, and the food was excellent. I adore southern soul food, and this establishment had exactly what I was looking for. Everything tasted great and was freshly prepared at a great price. I will be coming back and will recommend this to my friends and family.
We have had the hardest time finding good soul food in Gastonia. Well this is the spot! Best I've tasted in the 7 yrs I've been here! This is our new favorite spot! Please check them out if you're looking for great food and good customer service!
Let me tell you about the fried chicken. Crispy, flavorful, and just the right amount of grease. This is the epitome of soul food. Probably the best fried chicken thigh I have ever had. The leg was great too, but the thigh was on another level. Hit that bad boy with some hot sauce and prepare your taste buds for a ride.
For sides, I had mac & cheese along with pinto beans. The pinto beans were standard fare. Exactly what I was expecting, but not really jumping out at me. But that mac & cheese was absolute fire. It wasn't too dry or too runny, but somewhere right in the middle with a hint of that baked cheese flavor and crunch. When I go back, I may order a double portion. It was that good.
