Great food and a nice atmosphere. The dessert case is always full of tempting delights. The food never disappoints.

We had heard how good the baked goods were here so on our way home from Mooresville we decided to get a little something to eat and then try a pastry. As you can see from my pictures, it's a very nice place. It's clean with nice decor. Cases filled with yummy looking treats. Very nice staff. So far so good, right? Now for the food. I chose a Tapas plate of chicken emanadas. There were three very small empanadas and a small to go container of salsa dipping sauce. The empanadas were very good, the crust was lightly crispy and the filling was tasty. The dipping sauce was nice, it had a bit of heat but not too much. My husband ordered the carnitas sandwich. He said that it was kind of blah and strange because the meat was searing hot and the rest of the sandwich was barely warm. When he picked up the sandwich and felt that it was warm, he took a fairly good sized bite and the meat burn his mouth. That may have been the reason why he couldn't taste any flavor in the sandwich. Or it might not have been there in the first place? My daughter ordered the bananas foster crepes. First off, let me say that I LOVE bananas foster and have had it hundreds of times. When you flambe it, it's to burn off the alcohol and to warm the banana sauce. Never have I had bananas foster that tasted like it was charred. It was not right. There were absolutely no signs of anything on that plate being burned, nothing was black. Yet there was this undeniable taste of smoke or char. You could taste it immediately. Very odd. We all had sweet tea which also came in to go cups. We were concerned about how much plastic they were wasting by putting everything in to go containers when you're eating there. Anyway on to dessert. I asked the girl about the cream horns. I wanted to know if they were filled with the buttercream frosting that everyone here seems to fill them with, which is too sweet for me, or with cream. She said they were filled with custard. I thought that was totally different but I'll try it. I do like custard. When she brought it, she didn't get it from the case, she went to the back. My husband got key lime cheesecake and my daughter had a lavender honey macaroon. Ok, now for the taste test. The cream horn was not filled with custard, it was filled with baker's cream. The cream was good. The pastry shell however was hard to bite into and tasted like freezer burn. I asked the girl if they had been frozen and she said that she didn't think so. I told her what it tasted like and she didn't offer to take it off the bill or get me something else. The girls need to be trained more on the product that they sell. Also as you can see from the picture that the cream only went halfway through the horn. I couldn't eat it because of the freezer burn taste. My husband's cheesecake was good. Nice texture, good but light lime flavor. He couldn't taste the lime but maybe because his taste buds were a bit damaged from the sandwich. Who knows? He asked me and my daughter to give our opinions. My daughter's macaroon was really heavy on the lavender and no taste of honey at all. She noticed that the ones in the case were larger than the one she got. Which, btw, was also not taken from the case, but retrieved from the back. We all had sweet tea. I thought it wasn't sweet and a bit bitter. Everything was expensive so be prepared for that. Otherwise, go make your own decisions. I work hard to give my honest opinion on every one of my reviews so If this review has been helpful to you please like it ????
