Had the brunch burrito and it was good. Coffee was fresh and tasty. Staff was nice and welcoming. Saw the cook on the phone and when my order came in he promptly washed his hands and made my order. Glad I went out of my way for breakfast here.
Expect a wait, but it'll be worth it! You can always wait in the cafe next door. I got the Custom Egg & Cheese for with tomato on top of a biscuit, and my goodness, I still dream about it today. I'm from the South, and I was not disappointed. The biscuit doesn't leaving you feel disgusting or as if you've eaten a stick of butter, instead the Egg Shop just has you craving more! The Egg Shop deserves a repeat visit!
Hidden gem! Quaint locally owned breakfast & lunch spot just behind the building facing South Blvd. Free parking, but spaces probably go quick. Coffee tasty. Food was fantastic! Their breakfast menu has creative options, including hash. Eggs done right, bacon not greasy. A tad pricey, but absolutely delicious. Will be back to try lunch.
Decided to give this place a try the other day and it has joined my shortlist of go-to breakfast/brunch in Charlotte. I had their special, Cajun Biscuits and Gravy, and was delightfully surprised at the quality of the biscuits. I will recommend ROOTS Cafe to any and all of my friends when it comes to morning time fare.
Overview: trendy corner cafe, order at the counter and seat yourself. Small interior, nice decor and about 10 tables. Relatively small menu with a wide variety of coffee options.
I came with my wife for the first time to try breakfast. She ordered the breakfast burrito and I got the breakfast sandwich. Let me start by saying the quality of food was great, I particularly liked the burrito. Unfortunately both cost $8, and while I think that’s a fair price for the burrito it is about twice as much as they should charge for the Breakfast sandwich. Neither came with sides so we ended up spending about $20 and left hungry. Would return to try some other menu options, but overall it’s expensive for the portions.
