Pretty easy to get a seat on an early Saturday evening. Ambiance was really nice and the service was pretty solid. The catfish crust was a little too crisp for my taste, but the collard greens and grits were fantastic. Very creamy collard greens. Chocolate cake wasn’t to my liking but I’m sure others will enjoy it. Lovely views and parking was pretty easy, as well.
This second restaurant from the Kindred family is fairly different from the first. The feel inside the restaurant is much more casual. I ordered the ribs and shrimp and that was a good balance of flavors and textures. I can see other dishes getting a bit much to handle with the amount of fried items so the breading would be overbearing. The appetizers were almost better than the main courses.
On a beautiful late winter Sunday in March 2019, I was able to sit on the outdoor deck and take in the beauty of the lake while dining.
I ordered the Carolina shrimp calabash and hake with avocado coleslaw and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Instead of tartar sauce, there's a housemade sauce that's a more than wonderful substitute. 9 years in NC and this is my first time having calabash anything. What was I waiting for? Hello, Sailor has made me a believer.
(Word of caution, my server was extremely slow to get started while I saw people who had come in behind me being served. This is never a good feeling as a diner. Another server noticed, remarked to me that my server was busy, but didn't offer to take my drink order. I almost left but was fairly committed to the experience at this point.)
Amazing!!!! A must!! Quality food. Excellent service (shout out to Jessie). Honestly you just have to come here yourself to experience the ambiance. Everything is intentional and they have an eye for detail, in food and decor.
The environment is relaxing. The view is awesome. The menu is very interesting, with many different choices. The drinks are very refreshing. The hush puppies melt in your mouth. I ordered ribs they were full of flavor falling off the bone. The Mr had the catch of the day which was very tasteful also. The staff is awesome. Definitely a great place to go have a great meal, good drink, an awesome view. Nice for a brunch or dinner with friends or your special someone.
