Horace's Hot Fried Chicken

First came on a Thursday around 1pm to give it a shot. An employee was standing outside, asked if I had already placed a pickup order and I said no, I need to place an order now. She says okay, walks away, and didn't come back.. After 15 mins of standing there I left.

Came back the next day and placed an online order in advance. Said it would be ready around 12:09 which is when I arrived. They brought it out around 12:30.

There were tons of other people standing around, confused on how to order and why there was no one employee to be seen. In the 2 days I came here, multiple people came and just left because it's confusing and there is no one there to take your order or ask questions.

As for the food.. the fried chicken and hush puppies were insanely crunchy and juicy, which is exactly how I like it. Amount of heat was just right in my opinion. However, the amount of spices caked on to the outside of the chicken was so overpowering. It almost had a sandy texture because there was so much spice. After 1 piece of chicken, I couldn't take another bite due to the overwhelming amount of flavor and spices.

Overall... not terrible. But I most likely won't be back. The service/ordering process is horrible - everyone else I talked to who came by to place an order was just as confused and frustrated. They lose so much business because there isn't someone out there at all times. The employee shows up like once every 20 mins, while you're left just standing around wondering what's going on.

First time trying, and I got the 10pc salt&pepper chicken.seasoned pretty well. The battering is a little misleading, it makes the chicken look HUGE. I think they double dredge it. Potato salad is surprisingly good. I don’t eat everybody’s potato salad lol I would definitely patronize again. I ate it too fast to get a picture….sorry! 😂
