Came here for girls night … and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere, service, food and the margaritas were delicious. We tried the frozen Paloma, keep it spicy, and the devil went down to Durango - sooo good.
The chips they have were so good. Warm and salty :) make sure you try the corn salsa.
I hope this place stays around long enough for me and my boyfriend to come try.
First of all, the space is beautiful - lots of natural light, greenery, and earthen materials. The outdoor area has fans and heaters. It's covered by a clear material so you're protected from the rain but nothing to shade you from the sun. This was a nonissue at 7pm, but could be a problem midday.
Our server (Lee?) did an excellent job explaining the menu to us. He noted that everything is made in house and the cuisine is specific to a region in southern Mexico where the chef is from. I love a good origin story and the authenticity really came through in the flavors of the food.
I started with a horchata, which was sweet and refreshing. I enjoyed it with the complimentary blue corn tortilla chips. We then split the elote, carnitas, and steak quesadilla for our meal. The elote was my favorite. It had a spicy kick to it and pairs well with almost anything on the menu. The carnitas is a huge serving. If you get it with tortillas you can fill at least five tacos. The quesadilla is very good, but it needed something to cut through the richness. That was easily fixed by dipping it in the complimentary salsas that came with the chips. My partner also had a lengua taco and said it was the best taco he's ever had!
I really enjoyed this place! We stopped in for a quick drink on a Saturday afternoon. Their drinks were good and well balanced. My GF got a spiked Horchata, which isn’t on the menu but can be done with any of their Agua Fresca as the bartender let us know. Bartender was attentive and did a great job. I got the “From the Heart” drink. It was really good! I enjoyed the atmosphere of this place the most. It’s very simple but has nice outdoor options. It has a good amount of seating. Parking isn’t an issue. This is a nice place to go for an evening stop. A good date night place as well. I tried just a taco. The price was reasonable and I enjoyed it. The tortilla was a little too moist but it was bc of the meat. Still can say they’re solid with plenty of good, reasonable menu options. They did a great job making a legitimate taco that isn’t posing as one like a lot of Charlotte places. Their chips and salsa are fire 🔥
If you follow my posts you know I wouldn’t gas it up unless it’s good. This place is right next to “Not Just Coffee”. I recommend checking it out at least once.
Absolutely excellent! Great patio with housemade everything including the giant fresh tortilla machine surrounded by great bags of corn flour. -Don't be afraid to be a bit spicier if you are holding back-
Everything was so fresh and amazing! We sat at the bar and service was lightning fast, so much so we had to stop talking so we could eat before another plate came out. The tortilla chips and all the salsas are crazy (and crazy it’s free) and the cocktails are really good.
