For starters we tried the Fried Beef Tacos. We were a bit taken aback at the overly generous amount of shredded lettuce smothering the tacos when they first arrived. It was a like a taco treasure hunt, but once found the tacos were actually delicious. I was expecting a bit more from the mojitos considering the hype surrounding the House-Pressed Fresh Sugarcane Juice, but enjoyed the drink overall. My date had a burger (again with the lettuce!) and I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich. Fries were good! I would not get the chicken sandwich again, but would eat here again and try something different.

First time dining here, and it was great! We made reservations but arrived a little early, and they were able to seat us when we arrived as they were not that busy. The space is huge, so there were lots of tables available. The service was great! The hostess was very friendly, and our server delisha (not sure of the correct spelling) was great as well. The food we ordered was delicious! I would definitely return to try so more of the items on the menu!

Had dinner at State of Confusion in Charlotte North Carolina. We sat outside. It was a beautiful night. It’s a very big space. They have tons of indoor and outdoor seating and a roof deck that I did not get to see. The service was really good. Our server Lydia was very friendly and accommodating. She gave us amazing suggestions and was very outgoing. My only negative which isn’t even negative is once we got our food, we needed hot sauce and ketchup and it took a really long time to get that but understand they were busy. The food was pretty good. We shared the potato chip nachos, which were absolutely incredible. That was definitely the best thing we ate. I had the cold muffaletta sandwich with fries- it had an olive tapenade and had really good flavor. The bread was a little soggy but I know that happens with a cold cut sandwich. The fries were crispy & flavorful. We ordered the cheesy monkey bread on the side. I feel like this would have been delicious if it was cooked a little longer. It was soggy and doughy on the bottom. One of my friends ordered the Paella and she thought it would be more traditional in a paella pan and it wasn’t. I feel like that should be mentioned. Everyone else really enjoyed their food. The drinks were really fantastic too. I had the draft margarita and ranch water. I would definitely go back!

New place at the time of this post. Only a month or so old I guess. The food was actually good BUT those are supposed to be fried beef tacos under that mountain of shredded lettuce. Once you manage to dig 7 levels under the lettuce the tacos themselves were good. The drinks were good too. Got the Ranch water I think it was called and some other drink. Both were good. The prices…uh…not so sure they’re that reasonable. There’s nothing on the menu that’s less than $15 it seems. Big location with lots of seating. The roof is cool. Staff were pretty nice. It was clean. I’m rounding up to a 4 but y’all gotta chill out with all that lettuce on top of the tacos. It is not a salad.

This was my second visit to State of Confusion. I enjoyed it so much on last Friday, my husband and I had a lunch date here today. I love the monkey bread and the calamari. The monkey bread is very filling with a mix of cheeses and this light cream sauce in the middle. The calamari today was a bit overly breaded, but it was perfect a few days prior. A few days prior it was light and airy and very flavorful. The calamari was cooked well and not rubbery. Since this was a late afternoon lunch date and we had littles to pick up from school, I got the pesto chicken to go. My husband dived into to his Po Boy immediately and I stole a few shrimp from his plate which was perfectly cooked with a light breading and crisp crunch. I love the artsy vibe of this place and will definitely return!
