Amazing food, beautiful, tasteful decor, fun building history!
It's hard to tell whether the interior design or the food is the centerpiece of attention at Dram Yard. They both get a 10/10. So much little attention to detail all over the restaurant - including some awesome-sauce bathroom wallpaper (Go see!) - and you can tell it extends to what's being served up in the kitchen. Seared radicchio - eating "healthy" never felt so sinful! Focaccia that's out of this world. Pork schnitzel and daily fish both moist, melt-in-your-mouth gems.
Everything we ordered was well prepared and delicious. The concept here is different. You are not ordering individual meals for each dinner; rather, you are ordering dishes to be shared by the table. These come to the table as they are prepared. We ordered the fish and the pork chop as main courses, and the potatoes, faccaci, and rabia to round it out, but we were almost finished with the last three before the pork and fish arrived. One problem, it was very crowded this Friday evening and thus very loud.
Overall, good food and beautiful experience. The decor is awesome and the drinks are delicious!! I would go back with friends. Our waitress lacked a little charm and knowledge and one dish was overcooked but otherwise 5 stars.
The menu is eclectic and seemed complicated by the names and descriptions. 3 people in my group didn’t feel like they knew what several items were so they just looked for something they recognized. Our waitress did not help explain the menu nor simplify our choices. She did answer our questions though so that was helpful.
The focaccia, market fish, potatoes, cauliflower, prawns, olives were all excellent. All of those dishes were full on flavorful and delicately & beautifully plated. Our pork chop schnitzel was over cooked and tough to eat. I was surprised especially since everything else was so well prepared and presented. The schnitzel did not fit into the rest of the menu, in our opinion.
Tip to the GM, train your staff on the history of your great restaurant, your unique name and the building you occupy. “The word ‘Dram’ is trendy right now so they just used that” is not the best reflection of your awesome restaurant. For this price in Wilmington, I want to be charmed by your food and your staff. Give us a mini history lesson about the building, the architecture, the name.
Fantastic. The staff is super friendly. The food was off the chain. Had the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly. I wish them the best of luck. Very nice dining experience. I will be back.
