Almost a year ago now, we lost the one queer cafe in Sanford. And so, I drove all the way up here today to escape the confederate flags. I must say, 50+ miles, $2 to park, and $10 for a coffee/treat was SOOO worth it. Once they took my order and I sat down with my little pager, I nearly cried...

    Everyone was so... gay. :')

Couldn't afford to buy a book, but I walked through and took photos of the ones that interested me. I only had an hour in my parking spot, so I felt a little rushed. My favorite part is the little summary cards put on some books (as pictured)!! Made my browsing much more efficient.

My suggestion: Don't drive into Charlotte! Park as close as you can at a friend's house, then Uber to where you want to actually go. That might be cheaper? At least, then you won't be kept on an arbitrary time table.

This was our first time and we loved it. The Mexican hot chocolate was very sweet. I think my husband and I could have shared one. He likes sweeter chocolate. The cinnamon on top was delicious. We also tried the vegan churros which was our first time trying any churros. They were soft on inside and crunchy on outside. We devoured them. I especially loved being surrounded by books. It had a lovely feel, was a quiet place to study or hang out with friends or family.

It’s a cute and quaint place. There’s a large selection of books and lots of seating, which was very full when we were in. The seating and space in general is packed tight together so it’s difficult to navigate at peak times. The coffee was good - a horchata latte and brown sugar vanilla latte shown in picture. Peanut butter cookies were average but the churritos (mini churros) with Dulce de Leche was a great snack!

Stepping in here was a very enjoyable experience. There are books aplenty, lots of places to sit and work, and of course, delicious food. I'm a huge fan of churros, and the churros here were some of the best I've ever had. The girl behind the counter was friendly and had great book advice. I'll definitely go back next time I'm in Chapel Hill.

This is a great place with a cool vibe. I have edited my review since they first opened and its now one of my favorite places for coffee in CH. Great friendly staff, original pastries and coffee and a huge selection of books given the space they have to work with. In addition they are now offering delicious entrees before noon like the veggie tostada pictured, it is so tasty!
