This place is a hidden gem. My nephew recommended it to me when I offered to take him to breakfast. I had driven past this place, hundreds of times and never noticed it. But, when I pulled in, the parking lot was full. I recognized the people leaving, as middle aged/older well-known locals. We walked inside, the decor was outdated, but well kept and clean. The waitress asked if we wanted a booth or table, she was very busy, and still very sweet. We looked around and didn't see but one empty booth, it still had dishes on it. (We had met the people sitting there, leaving, as we were coming in.) She realized we wanted the booth and immediately stopped what she was doing and said, let me get that out of the way for you. She scooped up all the dishes, as we stood there amazed by her quick perception, of our choice of booth. Then she said I'll be right back to wipe it down clean before you sit down. She was back in less than a minute with a hot soapy cloth and cleaned the table and seats, then dryed them with a second towel that she had across her shoulder, smiling the whole time. As I looked around I could see the whole kitchen and wait staff. Everyone was busy and smiling, it was such a pleasant atmosphere. She asked us what we wanted to drink, we both said coffee. (I don't normally get coffee from restaurants, I prefer to make my own, I'm picky, because I drink it black. I use good coffee and filtered water.) I hadn't had time to make coffee this morning before leaving, so I thought I would just suffer through it. When she poured my cup I took a sip, and to my surprise it was delicious! I even commented out loud to my nephew, how surprised I was that the coffee was delicious. The man in the booth behind him smiled and said that he'd quit drinking coffee for over 8 years, until he started coming here to breakfast. We both just laughted, I told him I could see why he had started back again. Then I asked the waitress what she would recommend, the omelettes, the pancakes or maybe the country ham? I looked at her and said, "What do you like?" She said, "I love our biscuits." Now I wasn't expecting that answer. She said, "They are so big, and fluffy." Then she said, "That's what I had this morning. A big ol' biscuit with sausage gravy, boy was, it was good." I said, "That sounds good to me too." She showed it to me in the menu, she said, "You can get one or two biscuits." I thought about it and said, "Let's start with one." When it arrived, it came split in two, on a platter with creamy gravy mixed with big pieces of sausage all over the top and down the sides of this huge biscuit. It filled up the platter, I was glad I didn't order two. When I bit into it, it tasted so good. Just like I would have made it, from scratch, without any of the work or mess. The waitresses kept my cup filled throughout my meal with that delicious hot coffee and I finally finished every drop of that gravy biscuit. My entire meal was $4.50. My nephew who got 2 sunny side up eggs, 4 pieces of crispy bacon,(cooked to perfection, I noticed) a biscuit & gravy couldn't have been much more because my entire bill wasn't but $11 including tax. My nephew told me their lunch & dinners are really good down home cooking meals at very reasonable prices too. I may have driven by there a 100 times before without stopping, but I doubt I'll make it pass there more than a couple, without pulling in for a meal and a cup of coffee. You should try this place for yourself, I know you'll love it as much as I did.
