Dan River Family Restaurant

My daughter and I saw the place one morning on the way to Hanging Rock Park. We decided to swing in on the way home. It was tough to find a parking spot, the place was packed. We found out that you seat yourself, but no one or anything told us otherwise. I got the homemade pimento cheese sandwich with bacon added and it was amazing! My daughter loves Reubens and was happy with hers. Fair prices for the food and friendly staff. We will consider stopping in when we visit Hanging Rock from now on.

It was great. Tons of choices to pick from. I got the Chicken Tender Platter which was excellent. The wife got a Philly Cheesesteak and the girls, a Cheese Pizza. All were fantastic.

I always visit with friends when we got hiking at Hanging Rock. Their breakfast is good and they have Cheerwine which I love. Their lunch choices were not as good. So we just schedule our hikes with enough time to make it to the restaurant before they stop serving breakfast. Staff is friendly. Small diner type feel.

We stopped here after a day of hiking in Hanging Rock State Park. We have seen this place several times, but have never stopped in. Very laid back atmosphere. We got some cheesy bread sticks and a pepperoni and olive pizza. It took just a touch long but the wait was worth it. Everything was delicious and especially the marina sauce for the bread sticks. It has to be homemade. They have lots of other diner menu items that I will gladly try when in the area again.

This was the first time my husband and I have eaten at this restaurant. We were in the area, and decided to try it. The meals we ate were fantastic! I had meatloaf and 2 vegetables, all delicious. The hushpuppies they make there are some of the best I have ever eaten. My husband had the chicken casserole, and he was also very pleased. The only thing I would suggest for improvement is for the staff to make sure that the food is hot enough when it is brought out. We had to have our meals heated up. After that, they were perfect!
