Super friendly staff. Great food. Great prices.
Great food. Great prices. Very friendly staff. Cozy, down home environment. As the name suggests, yes its Barney Fife. Lots of nostalgic photos from the Andy Griffith show. A definite stop on the list when your in "Mayberry" aka downtown Mount Airy, NC.
Stopped in to this quaint place for a quick lunch. Mt Airy is the inspiration for the Mayberry TV show. Deputy Barney Fife was my favorite character from the show so I got the Barney burger special and it was special. I doubt if the hamburger was ever frozen. It reminded me of the hamburgers my mom used to make. Formed into patties by hand and cooked just right. A true sandwich artist made my lunch. The 2 patties were cooked to perfection and placed on the bun. 2 crispy pieces of bacon were halved and placed on the burgers. Not thrown on, but placed side by side so you got a taste of bacon in every bite. The other half of the bun was perfectly layered with tomato, lettuce, and mayonaise. This told me someone took pride in their job and I was the one awarded a perfect burger because of their dedication. The fries were just out of the fryer and piping hot and tasty. I was too full for dessert but the menu did have many selections including fry pies. I'll definitely will be back again next time I'm in the area.
The was food prepared quickly and the presentation was as good as could be expected. The cheeseburger was good and the fries were unexpectedly great and when paired with the friendly staff and community it was worth every bit of the 3hr drive.
Just had dessert and coffee. The chocolate cake was moist and soft, very fresh made. Great icing.
