Travinia Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar Morrisville

We made a 4:00 reservation for Saturday evening not knowing what to expect. We asked for a quieter spot as we were planning a memorial dinner in memory of a family member and were told at that time the while place would be quiet. They were right although I am not sure why. I see mixed reviews here and I suppose it must really be different at different times of day or week. However we were happy.

The food was really good and the portion sizes were enough to share or take home for a second meal. It would be hard to really say the overall impression of the food was spot on rustic Italian which judging by the menu, seems to be what they are reaching for but the flavors were all well balanced and representative of what each meal was reaching for.

We were a party of 6 and the service was perfectly paced even though we were in a slow period of the day. I would recommend a go here if you are thinking of giving it a try. Don't let the lower star reviews sway your decision.

I went to Travinia the other night for my birthday. We needed to have a quick dinner, under an hour, and our waitress definitely met that goal. She was awesome. She brought everything out on time, was attentive and sweet. However, I had to deduct a star because of food-related issues. First off, the bread was just...not good. It wasn’t soft or chewy; it felt hard to the touch and it was pretty dry. The best part was the garlic butter they’d spread on top, and that’s the only thing that made it tolerable. Now, I did enjoy my main dish, but my friend ordered the lasagna, an entree that cost a couple dollars more than my meal and came in the same size dish, and he got maybe half the food I did. It was disappointing. I did enjoy the dessert and drinks but the issues above did dampen our spirits a bit, so I’m making this review four stars. But overall I still think this is a great restaurant and I’ll still be eating at it in the future. I hope they step up their game a bit though!
