Great food! Great service! Even better music choice! This place is such a vibe.

Calavera is under new ownership and has changed to be more of a general Mexican restaurant now. Cost has gone down a little, portion size has gone up, and the interior is no longer pink.
I've had most of the items on the menu, and the cuisine is authentic, but that doesn't guarantee people will like it. There are daily specials offered on a blackboard near the bar. I've had most of the menu, so here's notes on the food:

Tacos: Heftier portion than under the old owner, and more meat options. Picture meat options are Al Pastor and Chorizo.
Caldo de Res: Comes in a very large sized bowl. Given the items going in it, you probably don't want a small version of this.
Barbacoa: Comes in a very large size, can easily split between two people.
Mole: Chicken is not fried, so the skin is there (for people who don't like chicken skin texture). The meat itself is very soft.
Enchiladas: Have three different sauce options: Mole, Red (Rojas), and Green (Verde). The other menu option to try the mole sauce if you dislike chicken skin.
Tamales: You get one Tamale normally, but the Chicken and Pork tamales are extremely large. Homestyle one is meatless and a more normal tamale size. Picture was taken on a day with a daily special offering one of each tamale. Homestyle is the left tamale, Chicken is the middle, and Pork is the right.
Nachos: The meat used in the picture is Al Pastor (marinated pork).
Torta Cubana: What you see is what you get. There is a decent amount of meat in it.
Burrito: Filling is all meat. Fillers like beans and rice are served on the side instead.
Posole: Pork is not completely lean. (I think it tastes better with the fat, but not everyone may). Bowl comes in two sizes, recommend the smaller size. Picture is of the small bowl.

If you don't know what to pick, I recommend the Chicken Tamale if you eat light, Enchiladas if you want something safe, and Posole or Caldo de Res if you're starving.

If you don't see a picture of it, I haven't tried it, so I can't provide first-hand feedback of that item. All the rectangular plates in all of the pictures are the same size, for comparison purposes. I do not know how the current empanadas compare as of this review as I was more focused on the other parts of the menu, and I wanted to try something different.

Best authentic tacos in downtown. Taquerias should be more like this, simple and straight to the point!! Go with the tacos!
