Friendly and efficient service! Lots of awesome things on the wall and the ceiling to look at. Food tasted great, however it was not very warm by the time it reached the table and some of the biscuits were hard.
Fast service, friendly attentive servers, good home cooking. It's a lively crowd place rather than a spot for quiet conversation. Ample parking.
Took the family to Big Ed's last Sunday for the first at the request of my father who loves the N Raleigh location. We were not disappointed. Food and service was really good. Pancakes are huge!! Looking forward to our next visit
The staff was very polite and quick. The food was pretty good. My wife got two biscuits and gravy with a side of turkey sausage. I got two eggs scabbed with cheese, grits, and spicy sausage pattie. Also got a hotcake to split, because it's Big Ed's and I don't know how you can go there and not get one. Everything was pretty good although it was kind of bland. For me personally the appeal of going to a "country cooking" style restaurant, especially for breakfast, is more bold flavors. Honestly I was a little disappointed with the eggs and I opted for the $1.50 extra added cheese. At a country cooking restaurant I want to feel like I'm eating at Grandma's house. Grandma cooks her eggs with bacon fat. Come on no one is going to Big Ed's to loose weight.
My only other complaint is the amount of light in the place. They did a really good job decorating it like the location in downtown but damn it's bright in the Garner location. Personally I really like how dark the downtown location is. That's just my personal opinion but I think some shades over those huge windows would be a great investment.
Awesome little breakfast place! Very similar to the ones in downtown. The decor is very homey and the staff is very nice and attentive. The food is very country with options of eggs, biscuit, grits, fatback, hot cakes, etc. they try to locally source what they can and I ended eating eggs, link assuage, grits with hot cake. The eggs and grits with gravy was delicious. The link sausage was great when added with hot sauce! I wish the coffee was stronger but I do like that they use a local coffee company. Overall this place is a great place to come for breakfast in the Garner area. Only few tweaks need to be made but definitely recommended!
