Where’s the beef? As I ate my lunch at Don’s Char-Grill, I found myself quoting that iconic line from the classic 1984 Wendy’s commercial. And it is unfortunate, because this could have been a 4 star review. Let me explain. Before I get to the food, let me say that the price was good. The floor, however, was FILTHY. The staff at the counter was only marginally friendly, which is interesting because the establishment is unabashedly Christian. Now for the food. The food was actually really tasty. The fries were good, the onion rings were excellent—fresh, delicious, and not greasy, the burger toppings were really fresh and crisp, and the burger had a great charred flavor—true to the name of the restaurant. But the patty was Way. Too. Small. The excellent flavor was completely lost in the gigantic sesame seed bun. So I found myself longing for more of that flavor...and saying “where’s the beef?”
