Mr. Toro

Being from San Diego Mexican food has always been a disappointment out here in NC for two reasons: low quality tortillas and bland salsas. I can tell you that being a Mexican bakery, Mr. Toro actually is the real deal when it comes to tortillas. Best tacos hands down this side of the Mississippi. The salsas are also phenomenal, a truly refreshing green salsa and a rich roasted red salsa are all you need. They are mild-medium in heat so just pour them all over. Seriously, order their tacos by the dozen and share with friends. The handmade tortillas alone make them the best item on the menu (or anywhere in Wilkes) but if you come out on a day they are serving pupusas you can not find a better meal. Best Mexican food in Wilkes by miles, as much as I like Plaza del Sol 's extensive menu, Pepe's tacos, Monte del Rey's drinks, Chile Verde and La Fortuna's burritos, and the al Pastor of Santa Lucia this spot makes the rest of them not even matter. Oh and did I mention its a bakery too? I love their filled pastries, definitely a different and niche variety that you won't find at Dom's.

The food is amazing and for a great price. We also got a spinach pineapple drink that tastes much better than it sounds.
