Overall dining experience was good. I had ordered the cajun burger platter with pepper jack cheese that was supposed to come with sauteed mushrooms and onions per my request. In servers defense I realized after I ordered my food that I didn't actually order mushrooms and onions to go with but it was only a couple minutes later when I asked her to add to my order, which didn't come with my food when delivered to our table. I didn't bother with requesting it because it took awhile for the food to begin with.Burger was pretty spicy in hindsight I probably should have gotten with provolone instead of pepper jack. The burger was made well. Those of us who had burgers thought they were really good. The bottom part of the bun is rather flimsy though and falls apart as you eat it. The coleslaw is pretty bad as is. It tastes like mayo with celery seed with bitter aftertaste. It tastes like no sugar was added.I was able to doctor it up with sugar that was on table. Steak fries were good. Ranch dressing real good for dipping fries in. Salads were good according to others. They had onions, croutons, grape tomatoes, and radishes on them. Server was attentive.
The Hickory Inn is a hidden gem. I ordered take out and the pizza was average in my opinion. It was overpriced and with the premium cost you'd think you'd get premium ingredients unfortunately I did not find that the case.
The bartender was nice and did offer exceptional service. The restaurant/bar was clean in appearance. They did have a large menu with lots of options.
I plan on coming in for another visit in the future. Overall my impression is this is definitely a hidden germ. I would recommend the Hickory Inn to others.
The Hickory is the hidden gem of Springfield. Nearly everything on the menu is awesome, the staff is great, and the building is cool.
Go for the pizza- whole wheat, crushed red pepper in the sauce. Sausage & water chestnut, pepperoni on top. Cut into party squares. Thank me later.
The lemonade is great. Bartender makes solid cocktails. The menu is massive, and you won’t go wrong with many choices except maybe the burger.
This place has really great food! The customer service was a little lacking, though. We stood in the entry way for awhile without anyone acknowledging us even after several waitresses walked by and looked our way. Finally a man came from the back to seat us. Other than that, the food was good and out actual waitress was nice.
Great local restaurant! Excellent food with good prices! Their pizza is amazing. Generous pours on drinks. A Springfield landmark. Highly recommend.
