Academy Tavern

Lively spot, popular with the older crowd but a good draft beer list and kid-friendly options make it a decent choice for families too. On the downside, my medium burger came out well done, and it took way too long for our food to come out, which is always a struggle when dining with little ones. The cavatelli was well cooked but a little bland. Our server was very friendly and helpful.

Very nice patio for outdoor dining when the weather cooperates.

Overall, a nice vision but a little bit lacking on execution.

A great local tavern. Good selection of beer but nothing unusual. Food is solid. A good place to watch sports and have a beer and a burger.

The building itself is very old historic building, but there is a diference between historic and run down
The food was about what I expected, average pub fare, good beer selections on tap.
The Turkey Reuben was prepared with half inch thick slices of Turkey on it. I guess they just wanted to use the same Turkey that they use for the open face sandwich the same as the Reuben, I would have preferred shaved or thinly sliced

The Academy has been a staple in the Larchmere neighborhood for many decades and has a loyal following second to none. It has the classic old tavern feel but was updated several years ago by the owner Sam. If you haven't been you should visit and if you like burgers make sure you try their signature Academy burger.
