Looks pricey on the surface but the entree portions are insane. I got the creole bird, expecting a chicken breast and got HALF A CHICKEN. They definitely give you your money's worth.
Staff were all very nice, a great place to eat when you can. Definitely going back.
The restaurant was an awesome vibe. The R&B music was a nice sound dampener. You were either conversing or lip singing your fave song. The bar drinks were just as tasteful as the food. Will definitely go back again
We enjoyed a wonderful evening for my mom’s birthday. Everything we ordered was delicious. We were pleasantly surprised at the flavor and authenticity of our dishes. We ordered the seafood etouffee, creole wings, lobster pasta and seafood mac n cheese. Selah, our server, was attentive all night and even brought out their beignet dessert for the occasion!
Interesting experience, first time at restaurant. Ordered small plate of spinach dip and fried green tomatoes. Fried green tomatoes were cooked well and enjoyed the presentation for both. Main entree consisted of bayou pasta, shrimp and grits and a few drinks. Shrimp and grits was covered and fully immersed in sauce. Pasta not flavorful but grilled chicken on pasta was pretty good while the sautéed shrimp within the grits was tasty as well. Shrimp and grits was way too saucy and unable to see the shrimp or the grits.
Our server Marquis was great and very accommodating, nice atmosphere with great music, television at bar area and quickly seated.
Transition time on Sundays between 4-5 pm with small plates served before 5 pm dinner transition.
Overall, not a bad first time experience but would recommend less sauce or would order sauce on the side next time so I can actually see the quality of the shrimp and grits without being fully immersed in sauce.
Would recommend more flavoring and creamier sauce for the pasta.
We visited House of Creole for the first time tonight, (September 23, 2023). We decided to sit on the patio, which was charmingly set up with wrought iron tables topped with bright orange umbrellas, a seating area with a fire pit and a nice outside bar. This is surrounded by century-old brick buildings set far back from busy Euclid Avenue. Light jazz music fills the air, but not so loudly that you can't hear the person across the table speak.
We were greeted by our server, Taylor almost immediately. She was polite, personable, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. We dined on Gumbo, Etouffe, and salmon. We finished with ice cream. The food was flavorful and came to our table hot. I would highly recommend the salmon. Prices were less than other high-end restaurants downtown. The atmosphere was unpretentious and friendly. If you're looking for a relaxing place to eat with excellent food and an attentive staff, this is the place to go.
