Shake It - Cleveland

What a great atmosphere for the family and I to enjoy a nice meal. The service was great, the complimentary self-service cold water was very enjoyable as was the environment. Everything was very clean and the food was enjoyable. I especially appreciate they they use grass fed-beef for their burgers. I ordered the hot Nashville chicken sandwich, which was about an 4 out of 5 stars and my children really enjoyed the burgers and shake. I also got the loaded fries which were enjoyable. This is a great summer spot and I even enjoyed that they had the Moana movie playing in the dining room for the the younger ones. I truly believe this place gets better every time I go. 😃

Took my mom to 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐈𝐓 on a Thursday morning. Definitely enjoyed the food. We ordered a salad 🥗 chicken tenders with ranch and other sauces, an Apple 🍎 cobbler milk shake 🥤, and cheese fries. Everything was great!

I have mixed feelings about Shake It. In an area like Van Aken if you can fill a void, (in this case, burgers) you’re sure to have some success. That being said, if something is better down the road or if the overall experience is lacking, I’d much rather drive an additional 10-15 minutes than pay around $35 for two burgers, a single order of loaded fries and a shake. The food was good, nothing spectacular. The chocolate shake reminded me of the texture and flavor of a partially frozen Jello brand chocolate pudding. It was so thick that even with a straw that was reminiscent of one used for bubble tea, it was difficult to drink.

The girl who took our order at the main counter was super nice and very helpful, we agreed that she was the best part of our experience. What this place lacks is direction and organization. There needs to be some signage that shows where to go for what. After I received a text telling me our food and drink were ready, I approached the shake station 3 separate times, where a guy, whom I’m assuming was the manager or the owner, was sitting on his laptop, clearly not wanting to be bothered. I asked if this is where shake orders were picked up at, only to be given vague, non-helpful answers or looks. If I’m asking you a question, maybe a response such as “did you order a shake?”, “did you receive a text that your order is ready?” or “what kind of shake did you have?” would actually move the conversation forward. Something like a lit up “shake pick up” sign would go a long way as well.

The area to drop off garbage and trays is directly across from where you pick your food up and the kitchen area, which is kind of nasty. After discussion, my girlfriend and I agreed that though it was worth checking out, there wasn’t anything at Shake It that would bring us back.
