The Crispy Coop

So you basically have a choice between individual pieces of chicken or “dinners”. They also have salads but we didn’t try one this visit. The dinners all come with their potatoes (think two oversized steak fries) and then another side. The chicken comes in three flavor options: Traditional, Tennessee Mild, and Nashville Hot. My son and I both ordered the Hot - he had the sandwich, the potatoes and corn bread and I had the Dark Dinner (4 pieces chicken) and the potatoes with the greens. Everything was very good. Food was hot, tasted good and the price was fair. The restaurant was clean and staff was friendly. Someone will probably say the chicken is greasy.. but it’s fried chicken lol! I wasn’t exactly there for a healthy meal. Regardless it’s worth trying.

I had high expectations for a fantastic Nashville hot chicken sandwich. I would have to rate this one as mediocre. The slaw was good and the flavor was good but the chicken seemed like it was over cooked and dried out. Of course we are comparing it to our gold standard of Hattie B’s in Nashville which is legendary.

A friend of mine had heard about this place last summer, and we made a trip across town to visit their location. We were both blown away about the quality and flavor of our meal. Needless to say, when we heard they were expanding to our hometown, we were both beyond excited. After making our first trip to 256 location, we were let down about our experience. I will continue to frequent The Crispy Coop because I'm addicted to their Hot Chicken Sandwich, but I will continue to drive to the original location as this location does not put the same amazing products we have became accustomed to over the past several months. Highly recommend The Crispy Coop, but take a drive over to the original if you want to truly experience a fantastic meal.

Overall good the dark chicken was very moist the breast was a little dry. The potatoes were very good. The Nashville chicken needed a little more heat. I thought the price was a little high for what I purchased. Service was friendly and quick.
