First off, the name of this place changed years ago and it is PASCALONE'S.
Please note that and if someone smarter than me can figure out how to change it, do so at it does a disservice to them. LaPlaia was an okay restaurant run into the ground by a cranky old chef that should have stayed behind closed doors.
Pascalone's however....I think this might be the best Italian restaurant in Columbus. And as someone that takes Italian food serious, I dont say that lightly.
The owner greets you, cooks for, checks on you and says goodnight to you. And every single dish we ordered was simply amazing. The only thing I thought was just ok....was the side garden salad. Nothing wrong with it...but it was lackluster and just surprising when having so many plates with such attention to detail.
But that aside, we had two appetizers, three entrees and everything was simply perfect. And the wine pricing is fantastic...not like those other restauranteurs that gouge the hell out of you.
The two slight minuses that will keep me from visiting frequently is location and hours. It's a very small place off 161 & Cleveland Ave which is just not an area we frequent and also the other side of town for us. If you are going to go (which you should indeed) make reservations as there are very limited tables. Second, its dinner only and closed on Sun & Mon.
But when you can work around that, you must try PASCALONE'S
Incredible food and service.
Nice
Great care taken with the food. You can taste the passion. Make reservations because there are few tables. I think that is the secret to ensuring every plate that leaves the kitchen is perfect.
