Bob Evans is a McDonald's for adults - wherever you find one, the menu is roughly the same, and you know what to expect. But like Roy Croc's burger chain, not all outlets are equal in quality.
So it was with the franchise at I-90 And Ohio 91 in Willoughby on Saturday, June 1.
Yes, we were there at the height of a Saturday lunch. But the service was below Bob's expectations.
My wife ordered chicken noodle soup and a toasted cheese sandwich. She got the soup, but the sandwich was wrong.
One of my friends ordered the Cobb salad with grilled chicken, but when it came, the chicken was ice cold.
Another ordered hash browns with her sausage gravy and biscuits. The spuds arrived long after the bowl.
Now, granted, the place was busy and the food was good - when it got there. The server brought my wife the sandwich she ordered, but wrote it off the bill. The Cobb friend declined to have her plate returned for warm chicken, but only picked at it. And most of the home-fries, late to the station, were left forlorn on the platform.
I like Bob Evans. I've eaten at dozens of them across the country. But I think Bob would not have been happy with the way his famous fare was dished.
Fast, friendly service. Good parking. Great food with healthy choices.
Service was good and friendly. Love the biscuits. Had the pot roast it was a great comfort dish.
My girlfriends and I meet here once a month for breakfast on Sunday mornings. Jackie the manager is very friendly and is always visible around the dining room with coffee or just to chat. The food is consistent typical Bob Evans fair and the servers are very friendly and speedy. if you get there before 9am you can walk in and sit down otherwise the wait tends to be a half hour to 45 minutes. Jackie, you're the best!
Food was good. It was just weird to me that there were not that many people, yet the service was extremely slow. It was even about 10 minutes before anyone even came to our table to greet us. And then it was another 35 to 40 minutes before we got our food. Too slow of service and my kids were getting antsy.
