Heck's Café Avon

Had we seen the menu before we got in there, we would not have gone in. So glad we did not see it. We had the only "old fashioned", I guess?, item on the menu, a cheeseburger and fries. It was absolutely the best burger either of us had ever had. Everything else on the menu, I am sure, is good, but we don't like avocado and the unusual items. We will be going back when we return to that area.

This was our first visit and, initially, we were disappointed; we sat for better than 5 minutes and hadn't been greeted by our server. In fact, we got up to leave and expressed why we were doing as much. The manager, Mary Mar, promptly took an interest and convinced us to stay. We did and are glad for it. Alexandra took over our table and made our visit great. It's not often that something as simple as a burger will make me confident in a restaurant. But this one did. My wife ordered the side of Brussels sprouts (no accounting for taste lol) and she is still talking about them. We will be back and encourage anyone looking for a quick, great dinner to try Heck's. They make a great martini too. We will definitely be back!

Very nice little cafe with outstanding food and service. They have a small bar area and a nice outdoor seating area outside for whenever the weather decides to cooperate. I've only been there twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Both visits were thourghly enjoyable. At the upper end of the price range but the local farm to table ethos, excellent prep and presentation more than justified the co$t. I look forward to seeing how the dinner experience stacks up!

I ordered the Heck burger with fries. It was perfectly cooked and had a very nice flavor. The food did not disappoint.

Our server was Juliette. She was beyond slow and I never even got a refill on my ice water, not that she gave me the opportunity to even ask for one. Took 20+ minutes from when we were done eating before she checked on us and gave us our bill. By that time we were more than ready to leave... And I get annoyed when someone doesn't ask for refills or checks for that because I had finished my water and was thirsty! For the prices you pay for the food, I do expect a more diligent server. Not one that barely did her job.
