Der Dutchman Plain City

Awesome place! Went here for a genealogy seminar. The facilities were top rate! The food was the best! Not your typical seminar food for lots of people. It was really, really good! And tons of things to shop for and bread and goodies you can buy and take home. I highly recommend this place!

I really enjoyed going to Der Dutchman when I was younger and remember feeling like the shop side was the size of an entire mall. It's amazing and memorable from a child's point of view.

This past Saturday I took my 7 yr old son with me to meet up with ladies from my widow support group. The place in general was clean, comfortable, although a little crowded it was efficiently run. Endless choices as far as lunch/dinner buffet, special features of the day, and the pie and other bakery options are just as various as the dinner buffet choices! Prices may seem a little high at first but much of it is actually lower than prices at Golden Corral, and other buffets don't come close to Der Dutchman. Restrooms were very clean. Items in the gift shop can be pretty expensive but they have so many different things to browse and some good deals. There's also a lot of unique, locally made items that you can't find elsewhere. A lot of really neat gadgets, one-of-a-kind handmade clothing and jewelry, spiritual items and gifts, cool toys and fun stuff for kids, as well as a decent amount of Ohio State Buckeyes fan gear, gifts, and some amazing handmade Buckeye items.

Wherever you're coming from, it's worth the drive and can easily be a whole-day experience with the family.

Good Amish-style food. Love the "more-than-a-salad" bar! Good service. Usually busy so don't be in a hurry. Interesting items for sale in the "gift" area. Easy, free, plentiful, on-site parking.

The price for the buffet was a little high but the buffet has good home style cooking like fried chicken, roast beef, ham and an assortment of vegetables or you can order from the menu.
The bakery is awesome!! (and the prices were reasonable)
The wife enjoyed the gift shop and is looking forward to going back again.

This is my all time favorite restaurant. Great for taking big groups. The bakery is also fantastic. My grandparents and I used to take regular trips up there to eat before my grandmother passed away.

We are will continue to eat here. Great place. If I could give it 10 stars I would.
