Swensons (North Akron) Drive-In Restaurants

Stopped in for lunch. These guys were busy. Always running for their customers. Then on top of it another customer paid for my lunch as a pay it forward . Love it

When traveling, we always try to find the unique places that locals consider to be a part of their identity, and review is a big help for these efforts. However, one needs to expect that often these places will only serve ‘comfort foods’. Such is the case with Swenson’s, which specializes in small, inexpensive hamburgers with a two sauces. They were nothing special. It really only deserves three stars, but I give extra credit for history. Also, the sprinting servers were an entertaining touch!

Swenson's is always fast, friendly, and delicious. The peanut butter milkshake is a favorite! And I always order the potato poppers, so so good. So glad to have this establishment around the corner from home.

A friend and I were headed to Akron for a girls weekend and decided to make this part of the trip! We are glad that we did. I had the Galley Boy and she had a double cheeseburg and we were not disappointed. Our burgers were great and the onion rings and potato puffs were not greasy at all! It was fun watching the servers run from car to car. I did feel bad because it was raining pretty hard, but they didn't seem to mind. We will definitely stop back if we are in the Akron area.
