The custard that you go in and get fresh is great. The stuff you get frozen is not so great. The food itself is average. You can get better, but you can also do worse. The pizza was pretty good, but not worth $19 for a 14". The biggest advantage is that there is almost never anyone there so it's quiet.
If you’re hankering for a burger on the go, I definitely recommend checking this joint out on historic Route 66! I had a cheeseburger with a vanilla custard shake and was impressed with the freshness of the condiments on my cheeseburger and the overall quality of my food.
We each had the beer battered cod basket and shared cheese squeakers and beer battered onion rings. The fish was tender and tasty but very greasy. Neither the squeakers nor the onion rings where greasy and both were delicious. We sampled the butter pecan custard which was very tasty but we had so much lunch we had to pass on anymore than a taste.
We stopped in on a road trip. We are so glad we did! Food was great! All the food was fresh. Owner came out and spoke to us. He was so nice. Do yourself a favor and go! The custard was amazing!
This restaurant is bright, spotlessly clean and cheerful. The custard is tasty and the food is flavorful. Why did I only rate as three stars? Two reasons. First, I expected from the name and images that this was a historic Route 66 eatery. There was nothing inside to identify this place as being a historic custard stand. Maybe that was my fault for thinking it was? Also, I thought the prices were high, considering what we got for our money.
