Ray's BBQ

This may be the best barbecue in the state of Oklahoma. I understand the Sticky Wicket that is the discussion of what barbecue really is, and for those who like their meat tasty and tender smoked, without sauce oh, you found it here. It is delicious and tender and savory. Now that's not to say that his barbecue sauce isn't good especially the spicy and the sides I made exactly the way they should be. Potato salad, beans, fried okra, mac and cheese, greens. The atmosphere is comfortable, the staff, mostly family, is Pleasant and remembers you after one visit. Love this place, love these people. You want some love? Try out Ray's BBQ. Your taste buds will fall in love with you all over again.

I expected so much more after reading all the reviews, but sadly this place was a bit disappointing. The smoked turkey sandwich was decent, but not a lot of meat. The brisket was not seasoned, and we had to drench it in BBQ sauce for flavor. It also had a strange, almost rubbery-like texture. The sides were just okay (green beans, collard greens, okra). Unfortunately we won’t be back.

bbq sandwich and fries were excellent. Service was prompt and friendly and the atmosphere was appropriate. Ray is a former Sooner football player and photos, press clippings, etc cover the walls. Whether you dine in or carry out, you can count on getting great food, at a fair price and really good service. When we need a B.B.Q. fix, the decision to go to Ray's is easy to make. Great spot in Norman for some good old BBQ. Nothing fancy just some great BBQ and brisket with all the fixings. Consistently good food and service. We usually order carry out. The ribs are the best in town and sauce is very good.

If you have a hankering for some good ol BBQ this is the place for you. I come here on a weekly basis. That's how good it is. There BBQ is moist and flavorful and worth every penny. Overall the price is very reasonable. The restaurant is always kept clean and neat. You won't be disappointed with this place.

I will drive back t Norman for this food.The ribs were perfect. Potato salad included dill but was well balanced with other ingredients. The beans had chili flavoring. My husband didn't like them but I did. We purchased the Family Meal for $30.00. It says it feeds 2-4 and it was accurate.
