The catfish was most excellent! The red beans and rice were the best I've ever had! Cornbread was great also!
The food was undeniably good!
I ordered the fried fish and red beans and rice and a salad for my sides.
My fish and the beans and rice came out smoking hot!
The cornmeal breading was flavorful but not salty.
Most importantly; Vesa was such a sweet woman!
If you're in Midwest City, take the time to stop by Vesa's Soul Food. You'll be glad that you did! ????
I will say that their food is pretty good but the reason I gave only three stars is because it's very pricey! They charge 1795 per person for their Sunday buffet and there's hardly any food on the line! Fried chicken and neckbone's with a couple of sides is not worth 1795!
I really enjoyed getting into some soul food at Vesa's. The 3piece chicken was excellent and cooked to order. Cornbread and sweet potato pie was everything I hoped it would be. Thanks for the great service, too! I'll be back next year.
Went on a Sunday for their buffet. Arrived at 12:25 pm and had to wait 5 minutes for them to open the door because they open at 12:30 pm on Sundays. Everyone who works here is friendly and while we waited for the cornbread to come out, a young man took our drink orders. One tip: get here early because a line was soon hanging out the door and they were running out of food. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Now, the food satisfied my craving for a traditional Sunday dinner that I was not willing to prepare myself because that would've been too much work! The buffet included cornbread, corn, greens, cabbage, green beans, candied yams (what I was craving the most), mashed potatoes, fried chicken, pork chops & catfish. I may have missed something but you get the picture. I especially loved the very tender & flavorful baked pork chops and the candied yams. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the Kool-aid mixed with Sprite or 7-Up, I think. Took some 7-Up pound cake to go. I will be a return visitor so I can try the week day menu. Highly recommend.
