This was my first time at Back Door BBQ. I placed an online order before I arrived so my food was ready when I got there. My dining companions ordered (order at the counter) when they arrived and their food was ready within a few minutes. I had a pork rib dinner with cole slaw and sweet potato fries. The slaw was hearty, fresh and crunchy with other things besides just cabbage and carrots - thinly sliced green peppers, parsley, good stuff! I like foods with textures, so that slaw really hit the spot. The ribs were impressively lean and tender and had good flavor. They offered several flavors of sauce. I liked the original best - it had the perfect amount of kick to it. The sweet potato fries were waffle fries - a little chewy, but that's the nature of sweet potatoes. I was there during the lunch hour on a week day - no problems finding a seat and it wasn't too noisy to have a conversation. I already have a lunch date to go back after Thanksgiving! Don't drive on by if the parking seems challenging because you will be passing up a great place to eat. There is a parking lot in the back, and lots of street parking in the area. You might have to walk a very short distance if you park on the street.
Superb place to bring visitors from Kyrgyz for real American barbecue. The meats were smoked to perfection. The sauces were well described, and I particularly liked the espresso. A great location close to the Capitol and the OKC National Memorial with plenty of parking nearby.
This is a fantastic spot for some great midwestern bbq! We tried the granddad's platter so my wife and I could try all of the different meats they have to eat. It did not disappoint! The sides were less than I was expecting but you come for the meat anyway right!!! Will definitely be back my next time in town!
We feel this is barbecue well done. I have however heard people who like Texas style barbecue say this isn’t the place for that so I would advise to be ready if you are looking for a particular style. If you’re not much of a barbecue person, their burgers are also pretty good and I’ve heard the same for their other sandwiches.
