UPDATE: Management reached out and apologized. Taking responsibility is a mark of good service so updating to 4*.
Tried to have brunch here yesterday morning. I’m from out of town for a wedding and had our 7yo with us. Upon entering, we were told and I quote, “we can’t accommodate you.” We needed seating for 5 (4adults1kid). They followed up saying they didn’t have any tables for 5 as I stared at several tables with multiple people (over 5). Not offered a wait, just that they “could not accommodate” us. So....clearly not a welcoming environment (for all). I have never reviewed a place poorly but I’ve also never been turned away from a restaurant. Never.
We were in town for an event and it was our anniversary. We looked for a place with good reviews and saw Flint was highly regarded and not far from where we were staying. Pulled up to find they had complimentary valet parking and it was within the elaborate Colcord hotel. It was a Wed. Night, so no problems getting a table. We had a booth and had Francisco as our waiter. He took our cue that we wanted a leisurely dinner. We ordered the fried green tomatoes with crab salad and were wow'ed by the flavors. Was there a bit of horseradish in the sauce? So delicious and a nice presentation. We didn't order our entree until after our appetizer was done to just see what we were in the mood for and how full we were.
This is not your typical hotel restaurant. The food is actually good and so is the service. This restaurant can rival and beat the local completion that aren't located in a hotel. The ambiance is as immaculate as the food. The service and drinks are amazing. I am personally a steak and potatoes guy, so of course I went for the filet. Money.
