What a delightful little restaurant. Live music, unique and familiar foods. I like the spice level and the fact there is something good for everyone.
Food is good, but that's not why I would show up.
Cocktails have twists on some classic concepts, the Peruvian mule is an excellent choice, they use an unique Peruvian brandy, pisco, which has characteristics of silver rum and tequila. Also great with a cube or two of ice and a slice of lime. I like a bar that offers news experiences.
And of course, the live music element that adds another star to the rating.
I’ve eaten at Monica’s twice now. Both times was for lunch. The seafood paella is really amazing! Everyone is super friendly and patient. Great music, really nice chill atmosphere. I want to go for an evening of drinks because the cocktail I had at lunch was amazing! I would like to try a few more drinks. I think my only negative would be that I wish they had a little bit more comfortable seating. It’s long and narrow, so most of the tables are bar height 2 seaters. You couldn’t go with several people for lunch very easily. Other than that I highly recommend trying out some great Peruvian eats!
Pros: great for small groups, watch parties, outdoor seating
I stopped in to try their famous paella. I sat at the bar since there was no greeter so I assumed there is no table service. It took about 20 min to get a drink. (Make sure your phone rf reader works as they don't have menus and it isn't posted anywhere visible, the bartender had to load it on his phone for me)
The food wasn't bad but it was overpriced. This was more of a late night diner experience so a $20 plate of rice is a bit much.
Friendly greeters and waiters might make it worth the price.
