Wide open space....nice energy inside. Cooking items of every shape and size, some will make you smile. The breakfast was tasty and the coffee was fantasic and hot. The staff smile and laugh as they serve, very friendly and welcoming. Josie took great care of us. Mother Ree should be very proud of her place, we enjoyed our stop.

Writing this review with my dads login. My Mom and I ate at the Mercantile on three separate occasions during our stay at the Pioneer Woman Boarding House. Lets start with breakfast, the first morning we tried Edna Mae's pancake's and the waffle breakfast. Both were delicious, we enjoyed the syrup selections and the flavored butters. The next morning we both decided on the Farmers Breakfast, outstanding! It was all tasty but the ham, bacon and sausage, oh my! Best we've ever had. For supper we both got the fried pork chop meal. So good, we loved the addition of the fried bell peppers on top. And we didn't leave without dessert. Chocolate pie for Mom and blueberry cheesecake for me! The perfect ending to a scrumptious meal!

The full sized chicken fried steak was so big! Parts of it extended over the edge of the large platter it was served on. It was the best chicken fried steak I have ever eaten! The mashed potatoes were creamy and not instant. They serve a delicious three berry jam with hot biscuits. The service was impeccable.

My mom, grandma and I visited yesterday. We arrived at 7:15 am for breakfast and there was no line at all. We enjoyed hot, yummy breakfasts, coffee and teas and the hostess and waitresses were all so sweet and kind. We shopped in the store for quite a long time and found all kinds of wonderful items. Some were out of our price range but many were not and we came home with tons of treasures. The store was arranged so beautifully and it felt so homey and cozy. We then went upstairs to the bakery and found treats to take home. They were all wonderful, good quality bakery items and they were presented so well. Again, the gals we encountered up there were as sweet as pie too! The drive was worth it and only wish it was closer! We would definitely go again if we had the chance.

I finally made it up here!! And it did not disappoint! The general store had SO much cute stuff! Some stuff was a little pricey, but that's to be expected at a touristy place. There were a number of things that were reasonably priced for what they were though. My 2 friends that went with me had both been to Magnolia down in Waco and said that The Mercantile was so much better. We had an amazing lunch at the deli, and oh the bakery! I only got 2 things but ensuring looked incredible and very fresh. The things I got were so incredibly delicious. When I go back, I might just have dessert for lunch!
