Hunan Pearl Restaurants

I've eaten here about a dozen times as it's a favorite of my mom's family and is one of the few Christmas Day options in the Southwest suburbs. It's mostly excellent, though I've had a couple bland dishes (but these were possibly my own fault for ordering things not to my taste). They started charging an extra dollar for a one-person serving bowl of rice (basically a requirement for 80% of the dishes) which soured my parents on the place. Overall, a consistently good place but perhaps not always quite good enough for the price.

Coming in at night with some friends we didn't know what to expect. I thought the place was nice and I liked the food. I frequent a nearby bookstore often and never bothered to look further in the building complexes to what food places were available. Now that I know this restaurant is here I will be testing it out more to see if I love it enough to give it a 5.

Today is my second day in a row here. The first day we had vegetable chicken with rice and it was good. Today’s barbecue pork is different in that it is spiced with possibly more .spices than we prefer. The egg flower soup with a corn flavor at lunch it’s fantastic. We had Buddhist vegetables and Vegetable chicken to compare. Two out of the three liked vegetable chicken the best. The cashew chicken is good but not extremely special. On a funny note, Every time we finished up late we took a little bit on how long it would take for the waiter or waitress to pick it up. They are very quick I’m cleaning off the table

Locals consider this to be one of the top restaurants in the area.

This self proclaimed authentic Chinese food restaurant is exactly as you would expect. High quality American style Chinese food. Top marks for the Peking duck.

The service and atmosphere is inviting and well polished.

While exploring local places to eat my wife and I decided to have lunch at Hunan Pearl Restaurants on Bangy Road and to give them a try.

From the moment we entered the restaurant to the time we left we had the friendliest and most gracious service and attention.

The restaurant is spacious and bright with plenty of seating.

And the food is definitely five stars.

I started with the Hot and Sour Soup which I thought had the perfect balance of both: very very delicious. I also had the Hunan Chicken with brown bean sauce. It was a great portion and had an amazing taste. And had lots of chicken and vegetables.

My wife had the lunch special with the beef, chicken, and shrimp in a garlic sauce with green beans. She loved it.

We’re so glad we tried it here and are planning on returning for dinner (a different day of course! :-))
