Having grown up in Panama and Florida, I have to say the Cuban sandwich I had is, if not the best, is one of the best I've had on the West coast. The bread was not overdone as is sadly so common. The meats were perfect. My wife's island bowl was also amazing.
The owner is on site and made sure everything was as it should be. Super friendly place. Cozy. I preferred the high top tables behind the bar. There is a parking lot right off of 99 but also a lot of street parking in the area.
Great place, worth a try. Interesting cocktails and a nice selection of beers too.
This is a great restaurant. The flavors are rich and the food is cooked to perfection. I got the Island bowl with shredded beef, saffron rice, black beans and fried plantains. The portion size was generous, I couldn’t quite finish it. My partner got the special jerk shrimp skewers. We got 2 skewers with 6 very large shrimp on them, plus rice, beans, grilled veggies, Cole slaw and a cup of soup.
They accommodated our party of 6 (+ a baby) easily and quickly. The prices are very reasonable for the quality that you receive.
It is a newer establishment and they are working out the kinks to get things moving as a well-oiled machine. We will be back and highly recommend that everyone stop by and give it a try.
Interior is much bigger than it looks, seats are comfortable, wait staff is very attentive. Food is over priced. The island bowl was extremely bland and I wasn't a fan. However the Cubano sandwich is hands down one of the best sandwiches I've ever tasted in my life and the fries it comes with are delicious. I'd like to go back and try a few more items soon.
Our first time visiting. I was looking forward to having the Cubano and Seafood cakes. But they stopped serving the Cubano, as it wasn't lunch time anymore. But our waiter was great and helped us out. They were excellent! Good meat, thin pickles, a little thick on the mustard and tasty bread. The seafood cakes had the right amount of spice and were drool worthy. The slaw was tasty too!
Clean, comfortable seating, friendly staff and great food. I can't wait to try the Island bowls next!
We had a very nice dinner. Shared crab cakes that were superb and the Cuban beef plate. Had ordered extra sides but those never made it to the table until we had already (slowly) finished our food. But the what we had was beautifully seasoned and nicely presented. Staff were friendly but seemed a bit disorganized and somewhat overwhelmed. Still I think they will get it right. We will absolutely be back!
