This is a little cafe full of surprises. Their breakfast skillets have more personality than the average offerings found in breakfast spots and the farmers skillet, with its bourbon cheese sauce, is a favorite of mine so far. The gravy served with their biscuits and gravy is the best I've tasted in years, owing to its rich, creamy flavor and the tasty sausage mixed with it. The biscuits are a touch on the sweet side. Meanwhile, their pretzels are the best I've ever had. Once, when I asked after pretzels, the baker stopped by my table to say that she would bake a batch if I had time to wait for them. And they are worth waiting for, especially since they come with a side of the same bourbon cheese sauce that features in the memorable farmers skillet. As a bonus, their drip coffee is excellent. The decor is uncomplicated with quaint accents that make it a comfortable space, particularly because the tables and chairs are positioned in such a way to make it very easy to maneuver and allow for a good amount of elbow room. The staff is consistently friendly and quite cheerful. In my mind, it's worth the occasional jaunt to Mt. Angel. It is definitely worth the stop if you're in the area and in the mood for brunch or coffee and a pastry.
Great place for breakfast as they serve it all day. The atmosphere was nice with plenty of room at the tables. What I had for breakfast was great. I was impressed.
A great local breakfast spot for sure. As I walked up to the door you can smell the baked goods from outside. The service was great and the food was delicious. It was all fresh. You walk up order and self sit but server was very attentive. Definitely would come back!
My grandma, great grandma, and I decided to try Cast Iron Cafe out for the first time this morning. We try to support local as much as possible, since we’re from Silverton. I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere of the cafe is upbeat and contagious. The food is delicious. The pastries are absolutely mouth-watering. The staff is friendly and quick to be of service in any way.
I had fresh squeezed orange juice, the farmers skillet, and finished by taking a blueberry cheesecake pastry home! My grandmother had the chicken pot pie, and she was loving every bite. My great grandmother had the pot roast sandwich, and I was almost wishing I had gotten that to eat! They both took a piece of coconut cake home.
All in all, it’s so nice to have a local, delicious eatery that makes the community want to stay around town! We will definitely be back often, if nothing else for a pastry or four! Check them out... a few times! You won’t be disappointed!
Cozy breakfast spot! Really enjoyed our food and drinks! We didn't get a chance to try all the tasty looking sweets but next time! Very friendly staff, and they have thee coolest orange juice machine that squeezes the oranges right in front of you. For those that are in a hurry they have a drive through window.
