Going back in time a little with this little gem, so rustic and welcoming. Visiting in the winter I'm sure if far different than summer. The fireplace makes for a cozy atmosphere and warm on a cold winter day. There were tables that you could sit at and watch the falls from inside. The service was great, the food even better! We had lunch and I elected the special of a grilled ham and cheese with an upgrade to sweet potato fries. OMG, so so so good! Probably the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. The fish and chips looked amazing too! Enjoy the history and beautiful, it's wonderful. They say in the summer it's crazy there. Make a reservation, it will be worth it!
One of the most breathtaking views I have ever witnessed in real life. Waterfall seems like it falls for miles. Beautiful lush green trees all over. Cool little cafe that you can grab a bite to eat after your day of hiking and exploring the falls. When in Oregon this a must see attraction.
If you are traveling down the 84 into or out of Portland DO NOT miss stopping here! We spent about 3 hours having breakfast and hiking up to the falls. To start off our breakfast was fantastic and the dining room is so comfortable and inviting. We were seated right next to the fireplace as you can see in my photos. After breakfast we hiked up to the falls which was an impressive show of mother nature's beauty and sheer power. We could not stop taking photos as every turn of the trail revealed another beautiful scene! I've posted a ton of photos here if you want to take a look, but I cannot emphasize enough to come here and experience this for yourself! Enjoy!
This place has a pretty relaxing atmosphere. We were seated next to the fireplace, which provided excellent warmth after the short hike to the bridge of the waterfall. I got the salmon chowder, which was just average. The pickle Fries were actually delicious. Also got some grilled salmon, which just wasn’t as good as I had hoped. Overall, if you’re starving, it would be a decent place to eat at.
Service at the lodge was slow. We noticed, but didn't care. The big fireplace made things nice. We finally ordered, and when the food came, the waitress said the whole thing was on the house because of the wait. We said, well, OK, and left a very nice tip. The lunch special -- an open-face roast beef sandwich -- tasted just fine.
