We had an extraordinary time in this spot. We loved the superb environment and the menu. The waiters are very amiable. I am content we finally decided to try this restaurant.
A friend and I stopped here, ordered off the happy hour menu. Clam chowder, calamari, fried cheese curds and cod and chips. Sent the clam ch6back, was like wall paper paste. Had to have the cheese curds done again as the first batch was so over fried all we got was breading. The calamari was the best that was served.
Pro's: Several Fish Taco and Fish & Chip selections. Good Crab Cheese soup, decent drinks, gluten free selections and locally owned. Good service and friendly staff
Con's: Other than the Fish Taco's, Fish & Chips and a few soups the menu is small and leaves you looking for something more. The fish is somewhat dry and chewy, the chowder is bland and lacks bold flavor but I said previously the crab cheese soup was good.
Lastly, as it does pain me to say.... I wasn't impressed by the bartender wiping his face and facial hair vigorously with his hand then going to the pass window and handling people's plates and then handling a glass to pour a drink and not once washing his hands. I think a little more self awareness of good food safety behaviors is needed.
Overall, it was okay. For me personally, I probably won't become a "regular". Again, it was "okay", it just needs a little more "WOW" in the menu offerings and some fine tuning in the recipes...
Casual fish and chips place with so many fish options! The beer battered fish was the best, but the spicy chili fried cod taco was also delicious. The service could be better, but the food made up for it.
FANTASTIC! The entire kitchen is gluten free! Wonderful fried cheese curds and beer-battered fish. They also have a great tap selection. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Portland even if you can have gluten!
