Hot Pot City

Jack and Ruby are very welcoming people and so is the atmosphere. Prices for lunch and dinner are reasonable compared to similar places and the portions are generous. The veggie-based broth, meatballs, and all of the other fixings are out this world. Lastly, the place is clean and clearly shows the owners take pride in their establishment.

Overall, the food was enjoyable, but they did a few things incorrectly.
To explain, my aunt is Korean, and I am white. She doesn't use chopsticks because she dislikes them, I use them because I do. I asked the waitress for a fork on my aunt's behalf, and later in the meal, the same waitress remarked how strange it was that my aunt was using a the fork, and asked why she wasn't using chopsticks with an astonished tone. I found this a bit rude, though the conversation shifted quickly enough that I didn't have to dwell on it.
The wait times were a bit longer than I'd hoped them to be, though we went at the lunch rush on a Saturday, so we have ourselves to blame there.
Food was good, though the marinated chicken was a bit strong on the spices and didn't combine well with the soup. Also, what restaurant doesn't peel their shrimp? Kinda irked on that, but again, my fault. I should've peeled them myself.
Overall, decent place to go for a cheap meal with a bit of options, but definitely not a place you go to for an extravagant meal. I'd go again, but temper my expectations.

Kind of a lowkey place and just went outside because it was close and I loved it, the food was great and waiter was really nice to us.

I love Hot Pot City. Great food. Great price. Friendly service. Fun experience.
