Impala is great! Just got the taco special and it was amazing, so much flavor! Not only is the food good- the atmosphere, staff and ownership are very chill and welcoming. Great place for lunch or dinner...I should also mention their drinks are fantastic also!!! Can't wait to try their brunch on the weekends.
Food is at the bottom end of serviceable. I've gotten pork and chicken tacos and there was almost no flavor at all. The burger and fries are okay, but every time I've gotten the fries, they've been limp and lack any crunch. The burger itself is pretty good, and is probably the best thing I've gotten.
The staff is pretty friendly, but not enough to make up for the weak food. I usually only go here when I'm limited on time and have no other options.
I am most impressed by the new ownership of this establishment. I had been to the previous restaurant 4 years before the renovations and I could hardly recognize the interior. It is very spacious and neat now. Before it was very crowded and chaotic.
The braised beef burrito was one of greatest burritos I’ve had in Portland. It was very well put together and full of flavor. The three salsas were unlike any I’ve had before. The salsa verde was my favorite but the habanero was a close second and not too overpowering.
The weekend Bloody Mary bar was a pleasant feature. They handed each of us a glass half full with ice and vodka and we added the condiments of our choosing off the back counter. It included homemade mix, bacon, celery, pickled green beans and asparagus, olives, Worcester sauce, Tabasco, and salt pepper. It was a great spread but not very aesthetic. This was the first week open so it’ll probably get better.
Great Mexican food and prices. Would be five stars but the atmosphere is lacking. In nice weather, probably great outdoor seating.
Very clean and comfortable for any family or for folks flying solo. The outdoor seating was lovely and the fact that there was parking was a great bonus. Super friendly staff, Food was great, especially the guacamole, it was fantastic.
