Delicious food. The poached eggs are lovely. But it takes forever (consistently) to get food. Great if you aren't starving. But have a snack before heading over.
Went for the first time for lunch with my mom -sandwiches ingredients were special and clearly lovingly prepared (though the baguette was toasted to rock hard consistency, salad greens were meh). In the end waiting for 50 minutes for two smallish plates (there were 3 other occupied tables in the whole place. How long does it take to make sandwiches??) for $30 is not my ideal lunch. And I really do not like the pay first model- makes me feel captive, like I should be grateful just to be there- waiting. However, I have heard such raves that I will give their dinner a shot.
Awesome. Breakfast is always amazing and dinner to die for. Great people. Great food and great drinks. The house made bacon/ham is killer. Been an off and on regular since they opend. Thank you James John!
Best bread - and who knew it goes with beer? I honestly had the best breakfast (smooth yummy grits, bacon - way yummy kind and yes, crusty toasty bread to dip into my eggs ... fixed just the way I like them. Nice people, good music and ambiance that makes me want to hang out even more. Thanks guys!!
Staying in Portland for a couple of days, we had visited another very good restaurant for breakfast the day before, and decided to give this one a try. I wasn't really paying attention, so it seemed like it was just a coffee place that happened to serve food. So, my socks were knocked completely off by how fantastic the food was. I got the pork chops with eggs and grits. Every last thing on the plate was amazing: the grits, the poached eggs, the collards, the toast, and the pork cutlets. My wife and daughter both had the granola and yogurt. This wasn't just slop in a plate: perfect proportion of yogurt to fruit, not the the normal over-high pile of food you get. Later I found out that they make everything from scratch. The care shows in the excellent food. I am only sad that I live 3000 miles away.
