Cooper Mountain Ale Works

So, had a great first dinner here after Cooper Mt. took over the former Max's space. The upgrade on food was immediately noticeable, as was the service. Liked, wanted to love, the old place, but they just never seemed to coalesce to their potential. It should also be said that while im not much for Belgian beers, I commend Coopers aim for the traditional and not so traditional. Really dug their spin on a barleywine, and both guest ciders were great. Now, to explain my 3 star rating. It would have been 4 or better, had i not called on a saturday to order a couple pies and a salad, maybe a growler fill. Checked the hours, closing 9pm. Checked the clock, 7:50pm. Well outside of my "never order 15 minutes to close rule". I work in the industry, and understand how frustrating it can be, so I choose not to. Unfortunately, I was promptly informed the kitchen is closed. More than an hour prior to posted hours. Not cool. I'll give it another shot, the food and service is worth it, but tighten up the problems, and I'll raise my rating.

The pizza and beer is amazing, And if you have the time try their brunch, the biscuits and gravy are THE BEST in town!

We enjoyed the breakfast at Max's several Sundays each month. We tried Cooper Mountain Ale Works lunch and it was a limited menu, but good service and the food was good. Took longer than normal, but we understand there really is no normal right now with all the restrictions. Last Sunday we tried "brunch", although it didn't open until 10am. When it was Max's we enjoyed the 9am breakfast time. We understand they are just getting started with brunch, but we all were pretty disappointed. The menu was limited and although the crepes were delicious, the chicken fried steak was tough and the corned beef hash was burnt on the outside and cold in the middle. Plus, it did not seem to actually be corned beef, it was more like a mushy brisket. The price went up drastically as well and there was no kid menu. We missed omelets on the menu as several of us have restricted diets and omelets are low carb and high protein. Also, we used to be able to order breakfast or lunch at Max's and that was not an option at Cooper Mountain, lunch was not available until 3pm. We love to take a family walk here on Sundays and have 9am breakfast and then walk back home. The bloody Mary's shrank too, but the price increased. The service was great and the staff is awesome. All I have left to say is that I miss Max's menu as it had many choices and was affordable. Don't expect this to be like Max's!

Really love this place. I loved it as Max's Fanno Creek and I love it even more as Cooper Mountain Ale Works. Their weekend Brunch is amazing!

I had the fruit cider, chicken club and feta and strawberry salad with champagne vinaigrette. It was so good! The service was really great and the place was very clean. I can't wait to go back!
