Since I only be there once. My comments may not be objective.
The kitchen is located in a nice place where is convenience to the neighborhood. And it features as HOMEMADE style which attracts me since I always believe we can find some diverse taste from it. Somehow this one disappoints me or precisely saying, does not achieve my exception.
HIGHLIGHT:
1.As other comments said, the kitchen is really comfortable and home-style. Besides, the cashier is nice and friendly.
2. The menu is written by hand with patient which is cute and sincere.
DISADVANTAGES:
1. It IS REALLY SLOW! I waited 40 min for a Braised pork rice. There was only one chef cooking when I made the order. Finally I saw my food be prepared for less than 1 min and cost me 40 min ahead just because they need to follow the number and they don't have enough people to finish some fast order.
2. In comparison with the time I spent, the taste really doesn't matter at all.
Comments: I totally understand that a brand-new kitchen need some time to find a right business model. I don't know how long it will take and how gonna look like. But current one definitely not gonna work for a long time.
The shop is very aesthetically pleasing and the cashier was very nice. It seems like a family run joint and you could see them cooking the food behind the counter. There are more familiar options but I tried something I'd never had before -the four treasures bento- and found it super tasty, the ingredients tasted really fresh and some of the flavors were like I'd never had before (but good!). It's a really cute place and I'm excited to eat there again! I recommend it for anyone who would like to try some authentic takeout.
Food is not bad. I waited for an hour to get my food. Guess they could have better management when handling their orders (they are taking way more orders than they can handle with only one chef)
If you are a stickler for authenticity then head straight for TW Kitchen! Asian college students make up the bulk of customers so come early, between 4-5p when the Chows open the doors for amazing Tawianese food cooked fresh daily! The pork belly boa will send your senses to a happy place and the stewed egg is remarkable! You needn’t have an adventurous palate to enjoy a fantastic meal here.
Got the braised pork belly bento today, it was so good and worth the $8.50. I can't wait to try everything else on the menu. It's nice to have a small family owned restaurant like this in North O, next time you're on Craig Street give it a shot. The owners are so nice and I hope they do well here. Cash only.
