Currently sitting here for my birthday, and I must say...one of the best, if not THE best place to go in State College. The staff is amazing, the place is clean, and the food was out of this world. Not to mention the drinks! Thank you Chelsy, and everyone at Barrel 21 for helping me celebrate turning 31 the best way possible.
We have never been to this place and decided to try something new. We were not even the slightest bit disappointed. We had our three children in tow so I was a little worried, but the staff was absolutely amazing with them, and us. The food was exactly what we were looking for. We will be back for Valentines Brunch. I dont usually leave any reviews, but this place exceeded our expectations!
We took a break from visiting Barrel 21 due to slow service and my partners' dissatisfaction with the meat (not having the item he wanted, what he did order was undercooked). I've never had a problem with plant-based options.
We visited the Saturday after Valentine's day-- no reservation. The restaurant was busy but our server was attentive and the arrival of our food and drinks were timed perfectly. My partner had no issue with his food being cold or under-cooked this time. He ate the pork belly appetizer and the swordfish entree and was very happy with the flavors. I had the beet salad and the espresso rubbed tofu-- wow! The mushrooms that came with the tofu were incredible. Four creative dishes executed well.
Drinks- their bourbon is quite good for being only two years old. My partner brought a bottle home. I loved the lemon-thyme martini. It's a little sweet, so I could probably only drink one.
