They had some good chicken tenders, they were really soft, juicy and tender. I tried the Inferno flavor and the Nashville flavor. Recommend the Nashville flavor for people who like a mild kick, and the Inferno was really spicy, which is great for people who like spice. Would definitely recommend this place.
Just went for my fourth time and honestly this chicken sandwich is one of the best I've ever had. The chicken is so moist, but with a crunchy breading. You can select your spice level, so you can actually get tasty, spicy food in State College. This is definitely the best chicken sandwich in State College.
Whew! I got the sandwich meal~mild spicy. And it is SO HOT haha! I couldn’t handle more than the mild but it’s so delicious. This is the best fried chicken I’ve ever had in my life, and the portion is huge. I’ll definitely go back 😊
Nashville native, here: this place is outstanding. It's a very legitimate taste of home. The chicken is juicy and cooked to perfection. The "inferno" dredge they use--the hottest they serve until I beg the owner to make it even hotter--is very well-seasoned with some hints of nutmeg and cumin along with a heap of cayenne. I can assume their dredges are on point across the board even if you don't opt for the hottest.
Big Dean's uses deep fry rather than pan fry (which means it won't take 15 minutes to get your food cooked once the line cooks actually get to dealing with your order...pan fried chicken shacks are notorious for 30+ minute waits). The oil is clean and imparts minimal flavor.
I'd take a pint of the TN style coleslaw home if they'd sell it. It's superb!
Waffle fries are perfect and the house sauce is a more or less classic, seasoned aoli. Highest recommendation!
